Greg Gaultier next to make semis in Manchester!

Fourth seed French fellow Greg Gaultier (pic) was on fire when he beat 7th seed Englishman Daryl Selby in straight games (11-3 11-8 11-5). All shots of the Frenchman found their targets and after 57 minutes Gaultier reaches the ROWE British Grand Prix semi-finals. His opponent will be another English Player: James Willstrop.

Qualifier Clyne downed Mehboob in British Grand Prix!

Star of today’s evening matches of the ROWE British Grand Prix was the Scotsman Alan Clyne (pic front), when he downed 16th seed Farhan Mehboob from Pakistan. After being 0:8 down in the 5th game, Clyne managed to come back, saved 3 matchballs of Mehboob and won on his 4th matchball 16:14. After the 5th match of day one saw 11th seed Australian Stewart Boswell survived a 5 games encounter against New Zealander Kashif Shuja (11-7, 11-2, 7-11, 11-13, 11-3, 57m) a shocking news came up in Manchester. No.1 seed Nick Matthew (pic) did pull out of the ROWE British Grand Prix because of an injury. The disappointment was shown to Matthew’s face when he stood in front of the crowd and explained the situation.

Donna denies Au double in Hong Kong!

2nd seeded Australian beauty Donna Urquhart denied the local crowd an Au family double in the Buler Challenge Cup when she upset Hong Kong’s top seed Annie Au in the final of the women’s event in Hong Kong. The victory marks the 23-year-old from Brisbane’s fifth career title – but her first of the year. The final of the men’s event also produced a surprise outcome when unseeded Leo Au – Annie’s younger brother – pulled off his fourth shock win a row in the event by beating 3rd seeded Malaysian Kamran Khan 13-11, 11-9, 11-3 in 50 minutes. The new men’s champion, aged 20 and ranked 174 in the world, is celebrating his maiden PSA Tour title.

Squash stars on the Grand Prix race track!

England’s Nick Matthew, the world No2 squash player who is top seed in next week’s ROWE British Grand Prix Squash in Manchester, and English compatriot Alister Walker swapped their squash rackets for racing overalls to drive at speeds of more than 170 mph around the famous German Grand Prix Nurburgring race track. Matthew and Walker, a car enthusiast ranked 17 in the world, reached speeds of 281 km/hour as they took the ROWE Porsche 911 GT3 for several laps around the legendary German race track. “I’m glad I’ve ticked that one off my list now because I don’t think I ever want to do it again – it was like being on a roller coaster for almost ten minutes … it was relentless!” Nick Matthew. Rodriguez downs Tuominen to win Colombian Open!

Spurred on by his jubilant home club crowd, local hero Miguel Angel Rodriguez (pic) upset top-seeded Finn Olli Tuominen in the final of the Colombian Open to win in Bogota. Tuominen, the world No25 from Helsinki, controlled his opponent and took the opening game. After being one game down Rodriguez showed more patience, was able to level the score and finally converted his 3rd match ball to celebrate a 9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 triumph after 54 minutes. The victory marked the Colombian’s 2nd Colombian Open title success since 2008, his 3rd PSA title in 2010 and his 15th PSA title in his career.

Perry and Iskandar take Irish Open title!

Home hopes have been satisfied by Irish favourite Madeline Perry (pic ri), when she overcame Dutch former world champion Vanessa Atkinson in straight games (13-11, 11-7, 11-6) to celebrate her 4th Irish Open title after 2005, 2006 and 2007. Top seed Malaysian Azlan Iskandar (pic le) after fighting back from two match balls down against Spanish qualifier Borja Golan, who is obviously back in form after suffering major knee problems. It took Iskandar 100 minutes (11-9, 8-11, 9-11, 13-11, 11-5) to celebrate his 1st title in Dublin, after being runner up in 2008.
