Toulouse: Rosner takes on Golan!

Germany’s No1 seed Simon Rosner (pic) and former No10 of the world Spanish Borja Golan will meet in the final of the Toulouse Open. Rosner made his way into the final, when he overcome Italian “enfant terrible” Davide Bianchetti after 62 minutes in three tough games (11-8, 11-9, 11-8). Comeback Golan who sits at No95 of the world for the moment, after recovering from a knee surgery, needed 17 minutes and two games more to beat Brazilian 2nd seed Rafael Alarcon (9-11, 11-3, 11-5, 8-11, 11-6).

Mehboob took Kuwait crown!

Pakistan’s Farhan Mehboob won the final of the Jena Real Estate Open in Kuwait. Mehboob ended the run of Abdullah Al Mezayen, when he beat Kuwait’s hero in 4 games (11-6, 11-9, 8-11, 11-5) after 50 minutes. The victory marks Mehboob’s first PSA Tour title after 19 month, when he won the CNS International in November 2008 in Karachi.

Borja Golan is on the move again!

After last week’s victory over higher-ranked Italian Stephane Galifi Spanish Borja Golan (pic) continues his move back to the top of the world. He marked the 2nd win against Galifi (10-12, 11-8, 11-5, 11-5) to reach the semi-finals of the Toulouse Open. The former world No10 will meet now 2nd seed Rafael Alarcon (BRA), who was taken the full distance by Max Lee before beating the No8 seed from Hong Kong 11-9 in the final game. The top half semi-final featuring the German favourite Simon Rosner and 4th seeded Italian Davide Bianchetti. Rosner eased to victory over Frenchman Greg Marche (11-3, 9-11, 11-5, 11-5), Bianchetti needed 5 games against Kashif Shuja before overcoming the 6th seed from New Zealand 9-11, 11-7, 11-5, 6-11, 11-6.

Mehboob and Al Mezayen in Kuwait final!

Top seed Pakistani Farhan Mehboob (pic) had all the control over his compatriot Danish Atlas Khan when he won (11-4, 11-2, 11-6) the first semi-final of the Jena Real Estate Open in Kuwait. In the final Mehboob will meet Kuwait’s star Abdullah Al Mezayen who kept Kuwait’s home hopes alive by beating 5th seed Egyptian Andrew Wagih Shoukry in four games after 51 Minutes.

Al Mezayen kept home hopes alive!

After Annie Au took the women’s crown in Kuwait, the men are still fighting for the title of the Jena Real Estate Open Champion. The quarter-finals produced two upsets and kept home hopes alive while Kuwait’s Abdullah Al Mezayen (pic) had four games win (11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 11-2) over 4th seed Waqar Mehboob (PAK). Additional Kuwait hopes were destroyed by Pakistan’s Danish Atlas Khan, who beat Kuwait’s Bader Al Hussaini after a 72 minutes battle in five games (9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 5-11, 11-9). 2nd upset came from Egyptian Andrew Wagih, who had the better end (11-8, 12-10, 9-11, 4-11, 11-2) against 2nd seed Jaymie Haycocks. Top seed Pakistani Farhan Mehboob easily overcame Italian Andrea Torricini in 29 minutes 11-4, 11-6, 11-7. Annie Au enjoys Kuwait Title!

Hong Kong’s Annie Au (pic) celebrated victory against Indian beauty Dipika Pallikal in the Women’s Sheikha Sheikha Saad Al Sabah International at the Qadsia Sporting Club in Hawally, Kuwait. The 21-year-old top seed just struggled in the 3rd game, when the 18-year-old world No40 from India won by a tie-break. Left-hander Au (WR 17) regained the upper hand in the fourth to clinch after 38 minutes (11-6, 11-5, 11-13, 11-3) her 6th title of her career.

Indian beauty Pallikal in Kuwait Final!

Hong Kong’s favourite Annie Au (WR 17) taking just 18 minutes to win her semi-final match against Egyptian Kanzy Emad El-Defrawy (WR 48) at the Sheikha Sheikha Saad Al Sabah International. Indian 2nd seed beauty Dipika Pallikal (pic) dropped a game. The 18-year-old world No40 from Chennai needed 36 minutes to overcome Japan’s No4 seed and world No62 Misaki Kobayashi 11-6, 13-11, 4-11, 11-5.
