Laura Massaro cruised into her 5th successive semi-final when she beat Welsh No1 Deon Saffery in Manchester’s quarter-finals. The world No9 took just 22 minutes to ease past the unseeded Saffery 11-3, 11-3, 11-7. Massaro will meet Irish rival Madeline Perry (pic) in the semis in a repeat of their semi-final clash in Cleveland. The No2 seed beat Victoria Lust, the 21-year-old 6th seed 11-4, 11-5, 11-6. Perry, who has never before made the Nationals final – yet reached the finals of the British Open on the same court in 2009 – was delighted with her progress: “It was nice to be back on the showcourt,” said the 33-year-old world No7. Today’s quarter-final line-up: Jenny Duncalf v Emma Beddoes; Sarah Kippax v Dominique Lloyd-Walter.
