Egyptian Ramy Ashour (pic) came back from 1 game down against local hero Stewart Boswell to power his way into the quarter-finals of Australian Open 9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7. The Australian was brilliant at times but was undone by the shot-making wizardry of the world No2, who was able to hit winners from impossible positions. Ashour now takes on Englishman Peter Barker, who was also in great touch as he disposed of Malaysia’s Nafiizwan Adnan 11-4, 11-2, 11-7. Gregory Gaultier sets up an interesting quarter-final clash with England’s 4th seeded James Willstrop after the Frenchman beat English Adrian Grant 11-7, 11-5, 11-8 and Willstrop eased over qualifier Alan Clyne 11-5, 11-5, 11-2.
Ashour destroys home hopes in Canberra!
