In the last match of Thursday’s ROWE British Grand Prix quarter-finals action current world champion Nick Matthew (pic le) had the better end of an all-English encounter against fellow Peter Barker (pic ri). Matthew overcame a crucial point, when he was forced into the tiebreak by Barker. But Matthew took the 2-games lead. Afterwards Barker shortened to 1:2, as Matthew increased the pace to take the 4-games victory (11-5, 15-13, 8-11, 11-7).
