Four matches – two players had to retire!

In the quarter-finals of the Saudi World Open 2 of the 4 matches ended as straight games wins as the others showed 2 players who had to concede their matches. Englishman and No1 seed Nick Matthew needed 38-minutes to beat French veteran Thierry Lincou (11-3, 11-5, 11-2) and took the 1st semi-final slot. Egyptian Titleholder Amr Shabana played 2 games and 4 points (6-11, 13-11, 4-0) against Greg Gaultier, as the Frenchman had to retire caused by a leg injury. Next match, next injury, as Egyptian Karim Darwish (pic ri) offered his hand in defeat (11-7, 6-11, 6-7) to Peter Barker (ENG, pic le) as he was suffering from a leg injury too. The last quarter-final between English James Willstrop and Egyptian Mohamed El Shorbagy was won by Willstrop, who never lost control when each of the 3 games got to the final stage (11-9, 11-8, 11-8).
