Finn Tuominen flies back into World top 20!

Flying Finn Olli Tuominen (pic) makes a welcome return to the world top 20 after a 20-month absence, according to the June World Rankings. An unchanged top ten sees England’s Nick Matthew maintain his 2011 grip on the world number one ranking – the 30-year-old taking up his 6th successive month at the top. But, after winning the Hurghada International on home soil last month, Egyptian rival Ramy Ashour has taken his PSA World Tour title total to 20, and narrowed the gap behind Matthew at No2. Meanwhile, fellow Egyptian Karim Darwish is in 3rd place and England’s James Willstrop at No4. After a slump in form which saw his ranking slip to 25, Olli Tuominen enjoyed a sensational run in Hurghada – where he upset both Frenchman Thierry Lincou, the world No8, and Egypt’s former world No13 Mohammed Abbas to reach the event’s semi-finals unseeded. June 2011 top 10 (incl. points average): 1 [1] Nick Matthew ENG 1,380; 2 [2] Ramy Ashour EGY 1,331; 3 [3] Karim Darwish EGY 959; 4 [4] James Willstrop ENG 897; 5 [5] Amr Shabana EGY 832; 6 [6] Greg Gaultier FRA 743; 7 [7] Peter Barker ENG 596; 8 [8] Thierry Lincou FRA 487; 9 [9] Mohamed El Shorbagy EGY 470; 10 [10] Azlan Iskandar MAS 432.
