Egypt’s Omar Mosaad (pic) claimed his place in squash history when he won the 1st Tour event ever to be staged in Turkey. But the 22-year-old from Cairo was stretched for 93 minutes by Italian opponent Davide Bianchetti before winning the Avrupa Konutlari International in Istanbul. By contrast, top seed Mosaad raced through his semi-final encounter, despatching unseeded Frenchman Fabien Verseille in straight games (11-6, 11-4, 11-7 ) in just 28 minutes – while 3rd seed Bianchetti was taken to 4 games (3-11, 11-5, 11-4, 11-5) before overcoming Danish qualifier Rasmus Nielsen in 48 minutes. It was 1:1 after the first two games before world No16 Mosaad had the better end in the following 2 tie-breaks to take the 11-8, 8-11, 13-11, 12-10 victory. Mosaad was celebrating his 6th Tour title of his career.
