Most of the game on the opening day of action in the Women’s Delaware Investments U.S. Open at Drexel University in Philadelphia have ended in favour of the higher ranked players.
The biggest upset was made by the unseeded Egyptian teenager Nouran Gohar defeated seasoned campaigner Madeline Perry, the 37-year-old 9th seed from Ireland, 11-2, 11-6, 11-9. The 17-year-old from Cairo will celebrate her 1st appearance in the event’s second round by taking on Waters.
