Sherbini overcame Australia’s 10th seed Donna Urquhart in straight games (11-8, 11-7, 11-5) after just 29 minutes. Fello Egyptian girl El Tayeb was even more surprising as she downed the English 2nd seed Jenny Duncalf in 4 games (11-8, 5-11, 11-9, 12-10). But also Englishwoman Emma Beddoes performed well as she beat 15th seed Joey Chan (HKG) 8-11, 11-6, 11-7, 6-11, 13-11.
