It was business as usual as Nicol David claimed her 8th KL Open title – but the 1st since the tournament had been named after her – as she beat unseeded Annie Au in straight games 11-4, 12-10, 11-9. "I'm happy I won the CIMB Nicol David KLOpen, and also knowing that it's named after me, it feels extra special to win it”, said the world champion and world No1.
Both get to the final in contrasting styles, as Au beat Egyptian teenager Nour El Sherbini 9-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-8 and David stayed on top of the 2nd Egyptian semi-finalist Raneem El Weleily. But it was a tough encounter when David took the 15-13, 12-14, 11-6, 11-7 victory.
