With their 2/1 victory Canada ensured a top 4 position in the event for the first time since 1992. Canada will face now favourites and former champions (2006) Egypt, who brushed aside 7th seeds France 3/0, for a place in the final. Defending champions Pakistan and former champions (2000) England will meet in the 2nd semi-final. Pakistan, the 2nd seeds, crushed Germany 3/0, while England, the 3rd seeds, defeated outsiders New Zealand 3/0.
