Samantha Cornett (pic) picked up her 2nd title of the year as she won the Tasmanian Open in Hobart in Australia. On the way into the final, 3rd seed Cornett produced 2 straight games wins against Deon Saffery (WAL) and Samantha Davies (AUS) to overcome top-seed New Zealander Kylie Lindsay in the semis 11-1 15-13 7-11 11-9 in 34 minutes. Cornett’s final opponent Ahn Eun Chan from Korea was forced to play 16 games in 4 matches against Melanie Dunn (AUS), Elise Ng (HKG), Sarah Cardwell (AUS) and Lisa Aitken (SCO) to reach the final. Cornett was well in control of the final as Chan was only able to take the 3rd game. Afterwards the Canadian closed out the match to her 11-6 11-7 9-11 11-8 victory.
