The 5th match of the Case Swedish Open’s 1st round was the thriller of the day, when world No3 Karim Darwish from Egypt fought back from being 1:2 down and was surviving a match ball of his German opponent Simon Rosner (pic) in the 5th game to take the victory 13-11. Afterwards 3rd seed Peter Barker (ENG) destroyed Swedish home hopes when he eased over Rasmus Hult in straight games (11-4, 11-4, 11-6). Also the match between the tall Australian Cameron Pilley and the ‘flying Finn’ Olli Tuominen did end in straight games, but Pilley’s 11-8, 12-10, 11-8 victory was a tough battle. The final match of the 1st night in Linkoping showed top-seed and world No1 Nick Matthew who had his English compatriot Tom Richards all over the glass court before he secured his quarter-final entry (11-8, 11-4, 11-8).
