
Australian Kasey Brown (pic ri) pulled off the biggest win of her career when she beat top seed and World No1 Nicol David (pic le) of Malaysia in the quarter-finals of the US Open in Philadelphia. Brown had never beaten David in nine previous meetings but the World No6 played the match of her life to inflict a rare defeat on the Malaysian superstar, winning 11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 11-4 in 59 minutes. Brown will take on Madeline Perry in the semi-finals following the Irishwoman’s 11-6, 11-7, 11-7 win over France’s Camille Serme.
