Vanessa Atkinson from the Netherlands stopped the run of 17-year-old US-girl Amanda Sobhy who became the first US-player to be in the US Open final. Atkinson was able to build up a lead in every game and with her great experience she managed it always to stay ahead and beat Sobhy in straight games 11-7, 11-7, 11-8. The men’s final in Chicago showed an attacking Egyptian Wael El Hindi (pic) who tried everything in the book to win this tournament after a 2-years period of no PSA-title. Laurens Jan Anjema, Dutch No.11 of the world, was able to level to 1-all in games, but he could not avoid El Hindi’s dominance in the next to games (11-8, 5-11, 11-7, 11-7) to take his 7th overall PSA Tour final.
