Selby takes Vancouver crown!

England’s Daryl Selby (pic) brought Hisham Ashour’s impressive run in the Comfort Inn Open to an end in the final – but the unseeded Egyptian took 2nd seed Selby the full distance in the climax of the PSA event in its seventh year in Vancouver. The higher-ranked Englishman took the opening game – but Ashour, the world No18 from Cairo, pulled back to move 2/1 ahead. After surviving a close fourth, world No10 Selby came storming back to clinch a magnificent 11-6, 10-12, 9-11, 12-10, 11-5 victory after 59 minutes – and his second Comfort Inn title in three years. The win marks up Selby’s 10th career Tour title.

Ashour outs Palmer to reach Vancouver final!

Unseeded Egyptian Hisham Ashour (pic), the elder brother of Ramy Ashour, continued his impressive form in the Comfort Inn Open when he upset top-seeded Australian David Palmer to reach the final of the PSA event in Vancouver. Ashour, now ranked 18 in the world, only had to reach two positions higher as he survived two tie-break games against the indefatigable 34-year-old who boasts 26 World Tour titles. Palmer has now slipped to 16 in the rankings, his lowest position for over a decade. Ashour’s opponent will be 2nd seed Daryl Selby, the Englishman who had to battle it out with 3rd seed Olli Tuominen to win 11-5, 11-6, 9-11, 7-11, 11-6 after 75 minutes.

PSA World Series Finals will be restaged!

Following the ‘technical fault’ which halted the presentation of this weekend’s final of the ATCO PSA World Series Finals, when the inflatable structure at The Queen’s Club in London in which it was due to be staged became unsafe, the Professional Squash Association has pledged to restage the finale as soon as possible. “Currently, we are working through the logistics and assessing forthcoming schedules to establish the exact date for when this will take place,” PSA CEO Alex Gough (pic) explained. “The PSA is committed to delivering a fantastic finale to what has been a world-class event. We look forward to announcing the date as soon as possible,” added Gough. The venue was still considered a health and safety risk more than 24 hours after the matches were due to be played.

World Series Finals cancelled!

The World Series Finals had to be cancelled caused by technical problem. As far as we know there have been problems with the dome caused by a massive storm which swept the building aside. Please give the team of Ziad Al Turki and the PSA confidence to solve the problems – they have done a wonderful job so far and have been terrible unlucky with these circumstances. They need the support of all squash fans.

Shabana eased into the final!

Amr Shabana (pic ri) was on his best at the 2nd semi-final against his Egyptian compatriot Ramy Ashour (pic le). In just 27 Minutes it was all over and Shabana got to the final with a 11-4, 11-5, 11-5 victory. He will now take on Nick Matthew for the 2nd time in the tournament. First time he won, but this time it’s a best-of-5-match. Any suggestions who will win it?

Matthew was in control of Willstrop!

The 1st semi-final of the ATCO World Series Finals showed business as usual. It was the 16th time in a row Nick Matthew (pic) beat his English rival James Willstrop. This time he did it in straight games 11-4, 11-6, 11-8. Even a 7-5 lead by Willstrop in the 3rd did not shock the World Open Champion. Matthew stayed cool, raised the pace and took the match.
