Mohamed Abouelghar (pic) and Marwan El Shorbagy will contest the final of the WSF Men’s World Junior Individual Championship in Herentals (Belgium) in the 2nd successive all-Egyptian final of the championship in its 18th year. Abouelghar, a 5/8 seed, produced the upset of the tournament when he beat top seed Amr Khaled Khalifa 9-11, 11-8, 3-11, 11-7, 11-9 in 70 minutes – denying the defending champion the chance to become only the 3rd player in history to win the title for a 2nd time. Marwan El Shorbagy is one match away from making squash history by becoming the 1st brother of any world individual title to become a world champion. The 17-year-old – whose older brother Mohamed El Shorbagy is a 2-times winner of this trophy – took just three games to despatch fellow Egyptian Mazen Hesham Ga Sabry, a 9/16 seed, 11-6, 11-9, 11-9 in 34 minutes.

All 4 Egyptian contenders took the chance to reach the semi-finals in the Men’s World Junior Individual Championship in Herentals (Belgium). Titleholder and top-seed Amr Khaled Khalifa needed 51 minutes to overcome Indian Ramit Tandon in straight games 11-7, 11-7, 17-15 to take his anticipated semi-final spot. 2nd seed and last year’s bronze medalist Marwan El Shorbagy (pic) had to fight for more than an hour to down Indian Mahesh Mangaonkar in 4 games 11-7, 9-11, 13-11, 11-8. Mohamed Abouelghar and Mazen Hesham Ga Sabry completed the all-Egyptian semis as they beat their 2 English opponents James Earles (11-8, 11-9, 11-7 )and Declan James (8-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-6). There will be Egyptian interest in all of the Men’s World Junior Individual Championship quarter-finals in Belgium after 4 players from Egypt survived two testing rounds on the second day of action in Herentals. Defending champion Amr Khaled Khalifa (pic), seeded to become only the 3rd man in history to win the title twice, made the last eight for the 3rd year in a row after beating compatriot Fares Dessouki 11-4, 10-12, 11-5, 7-11, 11-5 in 55 minutes. Al Muzayen celebrate historic Lebanon crown!

Kuwaiti Abdullah Al Muzayen (pic) celebrated an historic squash success in the final of the Senses Open in Beirut when he beat Egypt’s Zahed Mohamed to win the 1st PSA World Tour event ever to be held in Lebanon. The top seed was in sensational form in the Lebanese capital where he reached the climax of the PSA Challenger 5 event without dropping a game. Left-hander Al Muzayen was marking his 8th Tour final – whilst Mohamed was making his maiden appearance in a PSA final after a series of stunning upsets. In the end Al Muzayen was too strong for his inexperienced opponent in the final, beating Mohamed 11-8, 11-8, 11-4 in 30 minutes to collect the 5th Tour title of his career.

After surviving two four-games matches en-route to the final of the Victorian Open in Melbourne, Hong Kong’s Leo Au (pic) despatched England’s Lewis Walters in straight games to take a 11-5, 11-9, 11-8 victory in 51 minutes in Melbourne. Au, boasting a career-high world No 106 ranking, was celebrating the 2nd PSA Tour title of his career – but his first on foreign soil.
