Nick Matthew website goes live!

England’s world No1 player Nick Matthew has launched his new website www.nickmatthew.co.uk. Matthew is top seed in the Australian Open and in the ROWE British Grand Prix. The new website will show up-to-date information of his on and off-court activities. “I am extremely excited about my new website and the opportunity it will give me to interact with squash fans from around the world,” said the world champion.

Squash on the Olympic Games shortlist!

All squash fans around the world might get infected with the Olympic fever again, as Squash has been included on the shortlist of sports to be considered for inclusion in the Olympic Sports Programme starting in 2020. World Squash Federation President N Ramachandran (pic) said: “We are delighted to be given this new opportunity to be considered for inclusion in the Olympic Sports Programme. I am confident that we will be able to show the IOC Programme Commission, the Executive Board and wider IOC membership that our case has become even stronger over recent years.” In sight of this news all squash fans might get more close together to show the world that squash will deserve the Olympic status.

550 juniors in Cologne – 18000 fans on I love squash!

2 records would be celebrated these days. The Pioneer Cup, 1 of the biggest junior tournaments world-wide, takes place in Cologne (1st to 4th). More than 550 juniors would like to find their champions in 8 age-groups. The biggest group (154 entries) comes from the USA. Together with the entry records in Cologne, the I love squash community took the 18.000 fan barrier. Just 2.000 fans more to get to the next level. New referee system brings added elements to squash!

The World Squash Federation (WSF) has endorsed a new referee system developed by German squash court manufacturer ASB. The system features iPods as referee terminals, working wirelessly to compute the decisions and display them on screens. TopSquashReferee can not only be designated for use at WSF Tournament but will also be in demand by all other event promoters who can offer spectators an added element.
