David and Darwish claim KL crown!

Favourites Nicol David (pic ri) and Karim Darwish (pic le) emerged triumphant the CIMB KL Open in Kuala Lumpur. It was a glorious home success in which Nicol David, the world number, was celebrating her 7th KL title. The defending champion was beating surprise opponent Madeline Perry, the 7th seed from Ireland in straight games (11-6, 11-6, 11-2). The final of the men’s featured the top two seeds – Darwish and fellow Egyptian Mohamed El Shorbagy, the 2nd seed. El Shorbagy, the 20-year-old world No9, was marking only his 5th appearance in a PSA Tour final, while the more experienced Darwish, the 29-year-old former world number one, was celebrating his 33rd. Barwish overcame El Shorbagy 11-9, 11-9, 11-3 to celebrate the 20th Tour title of his career.
