The 2nd round action of the ROWE British Grand Prix has been started by an upset, as Egyptian Omar Mosaad took out experienced French former world champion Thierry Lincou in 5 games (11-7, 6-11, 2-11, 11-5, 11-4) after 66 Minutes. Another Egyptian was following Mosaad into the quarters when 4-times world champion Amr Shabana broke down the storm of German Simon Rosner. After 2 tough games to Shabana’s advantage and one game taken by the German champion, the Egyptian was able to close out the match in 4 games 11-9, 14-12, 4-11, 11-7.
Biggest upset of today so far was the defeat of English world No4 James Willstrop (pic ri), as he got beaten by his compatriot Adrian Grant (pic le). After coming back from 1 game down Grant clawed back to take one of the best victories of his career in a 83-minutes encounter (10-12, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7). In the 4th match of the day the crowd saw Englishman Peter Barker see-off Azlan Iskandar from Malaysia in straight games (11-4, 11-6, 11-6).
