Top seed Matthew, the World No1 faced Mohamed El Shorbagy (EGY), who celebrated a career-high World No8 ranking this month. Matthew won 11-5, 9-11, 11-3, 11-6 in 65 minutes. Fellow Englishman James Willstrop set up the next instalment in the England team-mates’ career-long rivalry by earning a semi-final clash with Matthew. The World No4 took on Peter Barker (ENG, pic le). Willstrop maintained his advantages and closed out the match 7-11, 11-5, 11-6, 11-7 after 63 minutes.
